Why I Almost Wrapped No Gifts This Year

It is a tradition for my family and me to wrap all the presents together as a team. This year, however, was different. I found that every time I attempted to move my thumb and wrist, I had a sharp pain that caused me to drop the project altogether.

Simple things like trying to cut the wrapping paper with a pair of scissors were impossible. Not only did it hurt when I tried to wrap gifts, but it also started hurting anytime I used the thumb for anything.

I couldn’t even carry shopping bags from the car to the kitchen with my right hand because of the pain it was causing to my wrist.

The condition didn’t seem to be getting any better; in fact, I felt it was getting worse every day. I decided that I needed some medical help, so I went to my doctor.

The doctor put me through a Finkelstein Test, which involved me bending my fingers into the middle of the hand and thumb over the top of them. As I turned the thumb over the top, I yelped out in pain.

The doctor told me I have De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis or De Quervain’s syndrome and that I need to rest the wrist and thumb. He prescribed me some anti-inflammatory pain killers and sent me home.

The pain killers did help for a few hours, but I was back to square one once they wore off. The issue was I just couldn’t rest the wrist; there are so many tasks that have to be done that involve the use of the thumb and wrist.

Simple things like cooking, washing dishes, and paying bills all require me to move my thumbs or wrist.

What Did I Do to Treat My De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis?

I needed a solution, and I needed one that would get me using my wrists and thumb as quickly as possible. I went back to the doctor, who prescribed me a brace to help keep the thumb and wrist stationary.

He said that this was a very common De Quervains Tenosynovitis treatment and worked for many. This was terrible; my wrist hurt all day long, I kept knocking things over in the house, and I had to keep changing the brace all day long as you can’t get it wet.

I had to take the brace off all day long; between washing the kids and doing the dishes, it was a real hassle and a painful experience all around.

After this brace failure, I started to research my own and found that one of my only options would be surgery. I then stumbled upon this website, and after using the De Quervains wand, I found instant relief.

I was so impressed that I went and got the De Quervains tape and wand to complete my set. After using these items for a month, I was pleasantly surprised that all my symptoms had gone.

The products were so easy to use, and I was delighted that the price was so reasonable.

In fact, I still have most of the tape and jelly left, so I can continue to use these for the next De Quervains Tenosynovitis episode. Hopefully, I don’t have to go through that again, but I am definitely prepared if I do.
